Geert Wilders has the voice of a prophet and he should not be ignored, especially as his own government attempts to silence him. He is on trial for hate speech in the Netherlands, and here, the text of his speech as his trial opens again, as translated by Vlaamse Leeuwin. “The lights are going out all over Europe. All over the continent where our culture flourished and where man created freedom, prosperity and civilization. The foundation of the West is under attack everywhere.

All over Europe the elites are acting as the protectors of an ideology that has been bent on destroying us for fourteen centuries. An ideology that has sprung from the desert and that can produce only deserts because it does not give people freedom. The Islamic Mozart, the Islamic Gerard Reve [a Dutch author], the Islamic Bill Gates; they do not exist because without freedom there is no creativity. The ideology of Islam is especially noted for killing and oppression and can only produce societies that are backward and impoverished. Surprisingly, the elites do not want to hear any criticism of this ideology.

My trial is not an isolated incident. Only fools believe it is. All over Europe multicultural elites are waging total war against their populations. Their goal is to continue the strategy of mass immigration, which will ultimately result in an Islamic Europe — a Europe without freedom: Eurabia.

The lights are going out all over Europe. Anyone who thinks or speaks individually is at risk. Freedom-loving citizens who criticize Islam, or even merely suggest that there is a relationship between Islam and crime or honour killing, must suffer, and are threatened or criminalized. Those who speak the truth are in danger.

The lights are going out allover Europe. Everywhere the Orwellian thought police are at work, on the lookout for thought crimes everywhere, casting the populace back within the confines where it is allowed to think.

This trial is not about me. It is about something much greater. Freedom of speech is not the property of those who happen to belong to the elites of a country. It is an inalienable right, the birthright of our people. For centuries battles have been fought for it, and now it is being sacrificed to please a totalitarian ideology.

Future generations will look back at this trial and wonder who was right. Who defended freedom and who wanted to get rid of it.

The lights are going out all over Europe. Our freedom is being restricted everywhere, so I repeat what I said here last year:

It is not only the privilege, but also the duty of free people — and hence also my duty as a member of the Dutch Parliament — to speak out against any ideology that threatens freedom. Hence it is a right and a duty to speak the truth about the evil ideology that is called Islam. I hope that freedom of speech will emerge triumphant from this trial. I hope not only that I shall be acquitted, but especially that freedom of speech will continue to exist in the Netherlands and in Europe.”

While Wilders is on trial for hate speech in Amsterdam, while in the UK British salafi Abu Mounisa at The Islamic Awakening Conference lays radical Islamic intentions out in plain speech. The west ‘worships freedom, democracy and capitalism’ as well as allowing women to walk in the street wearing what they wish, without being slapped — and he goes on in vivid detail.

Pat Condell on Free Speech and Europe –

Pat Condell, that irrepressible UK atheist, on the growing issue with free speech in Europe as more people are being put on trial and threatened with jail time simply for speaking out against what they see as Islamic extremism, or even, simply — criticizing Islam. Condell attests that multiculturalism is dead in Europe. He conveys with his usual direct and biting style how the far left in Europe now functions as the enforcer for Islamic radicalism. Taking sides with Islamic fascism while claiming to be against “fascists”. But, that has almost always been the case, has it not? Mussolini was a communist before he was a fascist, and Hitler was anti-capitalist and a man at home with universal healthcare and — jackboots. His concentration camps were echoed by Stalin.

In my observation the far left was never anything but totalitarian, so again, its true colors are made apparent by its creation of these odd alliances with fascist Islam and the enemies of free speech. Who are the real “fascists” here? Condell has an answer. The YouTube is behind the link!

Your last best hope is you! Kathy Shaidle on speaking out and speaking freely

OK, she said, “Your last best hope should be you” and I take it that this is advice for timid Canadians who are very, very close to changing the hate speech laws in their otherwise, wonderful country — but it is good advice for all of us, no matter where we reside. When speaking truth becomes “hate speech” well, it is time to — speak the truth! And, I know many of you out there reading me may protest that the truth is relative, and while there is relatively some truth to that notion, there is also truth, with a T, and we know it and feel it when we do. And, once we have recognized it, truth with a big T, does have that way of wanting to be known, spoken, and acknowledged.

Kathy Shaidle is a Canadian, a self-described “old punk rocker” and an ex-leftist (sounds like someone I saw in the mirror except I am not a Canadian though I have a lot of relatives up there from one side of the family) AND, I am not five feet tall! I have also not been arrested for hate speech, which is another reason why, I have not applied for my dual Canadian citizenship, I want to keep it that way! I know I’ve talked about Kathy Shaidle before. Yes, she’s been charged with hate speech in Canada, and blogs at Five Feet of Fury — (being all of five feet tall) and here she’s speaking at a support for Geert Wilders Rally in Toronto.

In other words, don’t let the so-called Human Rights Commissions shut you up, shut you down or get you down. Here in the USA our HRCs don’t have this power, but in Canada, they can actually swoop in and confiscate your computer – without a warrant! They’d be looking for “hate speech” if you can believe it.

Most Americans do not want this so-called Cordoba Mosque to be built here. They understand that it is both a provocation and a humiliation. They understand the triumphant narrative of a mosque named after the Great Mosque of Cordoba which was constructed where a Christian cathedral stood before the land was conquered by Islam.

An overwhelming majority of Americans is opposed to building an Islamic cultural center close to Ground Zero. There is no lack of mosques in New York. There are dozens of buildings in which Muslims can pray. It isn’t about a lack of space for prayers.

It’s about the symbolic meaning. We who have come to speak today, object to this mosque project because its promoter and his wealthy sponsors have never suggested building a center to promote tolerance and interfaith understanding where it is really needed: In Mecca – a town where non-Muslims are not even allowed to enter, let alone build churches, synagogues, temples or community centers.

Ordinary Americans object to the mosque project because currently no fewer than ten major multi-million dollar mosque projects are being planned in the United States as well as dozens in Europe, while not a single church is allowed in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, while Jews are not even allowed to move their lips in prayer on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, while the oldest Christians in the world, the Copts, are not free to renovate their churches, let alone to build one in Egypt.

My friends, that is why we are here today. What happens in New York must be seen in the perspective of the world.

The events nine years ago made an enormous impact everywhere. Most people shared your pain, but, unfortunately, some did not.

Nine years ago, when the news of the terrible atrocity in New York reached Europe, Muslim youths danced in the streets. In a poll, two thirds of the Muslim immigrants in the Netherlands expressed partial or full understanding for the 9/11 terrorists.

If a mosque were built here on Ground Zero such people would feel triumphant. But we, we will not betray those who died on 9/11.

Is it any wonder that a well-known Australian Imam, Feiz Muhammad, has called for his beheading? What is more remarkable is that Wilders was put on trial in the Netherlands for “hate speech” and at one time, not allowed into the UK because of this same so-called “hate speech”. I keep saying this, but it cannot be emphasized enough — Americans would do well to heed the warnings of the European response to the ongoing cultural and terrorist Jihad on its soil. Never allow “hate speech” laws to come into existence. This is unlikely here because of our First Amendment, but it is nonetheless the trend on college campuses and elsewhere to restrain or censor politically charged speech, or even ordinary everyday speech, in order to keep groups that are perceived as “victim” groups from offense. This can only lead to a normalizing of speech censorship on political grounds. After that, truth becomes harder to ascertain as debate is squelched. I know I keep bringing this up people, but let’s face it — it is more important to have a society that allows debate and an open exchange of ideas than it is to have a society where no one is ever offended. And, of course, the Feiz Muhammads of the world are made only more powerful when free speech is squelched. Here, about his threat to Gilders:

Sydney-born Feiz Muhammad posted a speech on an Internet site in which he condemned Mr Wilders as “this Satan, this devil, this politician in Holland” and called on his followers to “chop off his head” because Wilders “denigrated” Islam.
A report in De Telegraaf newspaper said Muhammad declared that anyone who talks about Islam like Wilders does should be executed by beheading.

The Freedom Party led by Mr Wilders scored the biggest gains in June 9 polls and is currently negotiating to form a new minority government with the Liberals and Christian Democrats. Polls show Wilders would win a new election if one were called now.
